Police, in the United States, are renowned across the western world for their erroneous and immoral interrogation tactics. Specifically, the Reid method, has produced hundreds of false confessions through the years. The Reid method has police officers assuming the guilt of the person that they are interrogating. Essentially, police officers will invent a perpetrator in their minds and then they will force their victim to match what they have already invented. But Chris’ case stands out from many of the other false confession cases that we have seen. In Chris’ case, the police not only invented a perpetrator, but they also invented a crime. This is a terrifying precedent, and has left us all asking, “Why?” “Why did the police do this?” “Why are they trying so desperately to cover it up?”
Chris’ family and friends are demanding a change in policing tactics that will protect our citizens from police officers who have no respect for law and order.
